Hey!
I feel I've been neglecting my blog! so here I am on my lovely shiny new iPod (see post below) to write you lots of boring writing, sorry about that :(
So, the reason I've been so busy with non-bloggish things is that I'm on work experience! Which is completely stealing all of my energy! I think I'm rather glad that true working life is a long way off :P
I've been at Aurora Fashions, they own Warehouse, Coast, Karen Millan, Oasis and some other ones I can't remember haha :P and I've been specialising in the Coast part. The whole building is just amazing! It is SO posh inside! The whole top floor where i have my little temporary desk (with an amazing view over London) is open plan and is full of computer islands, sewing machines, beautiful prom dresses hanging everywhere, rolls of fabric and spools of thread and mannequins :) it is a haven of clothing beauty!
Yesterday I went to this meeting where they put these dresses on a model and make TINY alterations, they are so precise, there is actually no room for imperfection! It just killed though to see them chopping off and repinning the strap to be sent back and modified on a beautiful prom dress worth about £300 because it was slightly at the wrong angle! Amazing! And today I used this machiney thing to cut out a pattern for a Karen Millan shirt, which will be sewn up by a machinist and used to decide whether the fabric is good enough to use to sell. So, rather exciting :P It's amazing to learn all about the whole process of making a garment. I'm having a really good time, the only thing I'd say is that the day is SO LONG for me to get used to!
If you have any questions about it, feel free to ask! And sorry for all this writing, I'll try to put some more pictures next time! :P
That sounds like amazing work experience! How on earth did you get it??
ReplyDeleteI spent my work experience at my riding stables, the days were VERY long but it was so much fun. I got to ride every day and learnt so much!

ReplyDeleteWow, sounds like amazing work experience! Hope you're having lots of fun :)
ReplyDeleteWOW! I might have to try and get work experience there :B Because my place was, although fun, a bit more casual and less... business-y.
ReplyDeleteYou make me even more jealous, stop it!
